Upon request the properties of each can be documented by test report 2.2 or inspection certificate 3.1 or 3.2 (EN 10204).	2016-05-31 13:18:58.781817	2016-05-31 13:18:58.781817	68	t	f	169
78	2	Advanced quality assurance in drawn-arc stud welding	For many years, drawn-arc stud welding has been an well estabilished process for welding shear connectors in composite construction and for producing steel components in solid construction. The outstanding advantages are high efficiency of a good stud weld is higher than that of either the stud of the work piece material. The rules for inspection and testing of stud welds are laid down in the relevant norms and leaflets (DIN EN ISO 14555, DVS leaflet 0902, DVS leaflet 0904). However, most of these tests (bend test, radiographic test, macro examination) are destructive, and can therefore only be carried out on random samples. A complete proof of weld quality for each individual stud is not possible by these methods.	2016-05-31 13:20:27.613212	2016-05-31 13:20:27.613212	69	t	f	169
79	3	KÖCO - Composite construction	An outstanding feature of efficient, innovative structures is very often an ideal combination of various different building materials. The favourable combination of steel, with its high tensile strength and ductility, and concrete, with its high compressive strength and good resistance to corrosion, has long been recognized in structural concrete construction. With the method of composite construction it is now possible to combine the positive features of steel construction and structural concrete, without having to accept the drawbacks. This means that a steel skeleton structure is combined with concrete parts so that a joint bearing effect is created. The steel beams bear the tensile forces, while the concrete bears the compressive forces and provides fire protection.	2016-05-31 13:21:01.761036	2016-05-31 13:21:01.761036	70	t	f	169

69	bolzenschweissen_hubzuendung_e.pdf	Advanced quality assurance in drawn-arc stud welding	For many years, drawn-arc stud welding has been an well estabilished process for welding shear connectors in composite construction and for producing steel components in solid construction. 2016-05-31 13:20:27.60488	2016-05-31 13:20:27.60488
70	verbundbau_e.pdf	KÖCO - Composite construction	An outstanding feature of efficient, innovative structures is very often an ideal combination of various different building materials. 2016-05-31 13:21:01.747005	2016-05-31 13:21:01.747005

201	0
Download our calculation software now!
\r\n
For several decades, KÖCO shear connectors have enabled the use of anchor steel components in solid concrete constructions.
\r\n
These transfer forces and moments from the steel to the concrete, in every direction. The positive-type joining of the bolt head allows safe transfer, even in those areas of the concrete subject to tensile stress.
\r\n
High-velocity welding on of the shear connectors with proven KÖCO stud welding equipment is a key factor in providing a safe and economical connection (for example, the base of a support leg).
\r\n
Regulation standards
\r\n
Steel components with welded-on KÖCO shear connectors are subject to European Technical Approval regulations for building construction (ETA-03/0039 for structural steel and for stainless steel) in regards to calculating their dimensions, production and assembly.
\r\n
Current design methods are based on research findings carried out at the beginning of the 1990s, research conducted mainly on non-reinforced concrete. According to this research, the use of connection reinforcing bars to increase load capacity in the occurrence of tensile stress and transverse forces is possible, but without allowing for any reinforcements already in place. This, alongside some other restrictions, frequently leads to uneconomical anchoring, and in some instances, design solutions calculated for compliance with the relevant approval procedures, have proved to be economically impractical.
\r\n
CENT/TC250/SC2/WG2 has, for a number of years now, been working on a detailed set of new recommendations for the design of anchoring devices based on new scientific research and findings. Published in 2008, thereafter the approval procedure is subject to the new regulations according to CEN.
The use of Shear Connectors in components with existing reinforcement should thus be considerably less complicated.
\r\n
Innovation and improvement
\r\n
After many years of successfully applying the KBZUL design program, KÖCO in partnership with Cutmaster Machines UK Ltd have introduced the improved and extended StudCalc design program, based on the most recent scientific innovations.
\r\n
StudCalc is equipped with a completely graphical desktop, onto which the steel component and the concrete slab can freely be scaled either up or down, turned, manipulated and moved around. The geometrical data ascertained from the dimensions of the concrete slab and the component to be attached, alongside edge and centre distances, can be entered directly. This enables the immediate graphical realisation of the resulting modifications.
\r\n
Selected studs are displayed as pictures and their specification data is also shown.
All concrete strength classes from C20/25 to C50/60, as well as a “user-defined” category, are available for selection.
The dimension modifications can be carried out for concrete with or without cracks.
Existing reinforcement (bars from 4mm up to 12mm with freely-selectable spacing) can also be included in the calculation.
\r\n
\r\n
With or without connection reinforcement bars, proof can be established.
\r\n
Loads can be entered either as “designed load” (without safety factor) or as “specific load” (payload, with a component safety factor automatically included, by the program, in the calculation).
\r\n
A user-defined dynamic factor can be included too.
\r\n
Load combinations can be freely selected.
\r\n
Anchor plate thickness is calculated by an FE program. Many bracing profiles are available for selection.
\r\n
The first result shows the utilisation of the selected anchoring design, on the basis of which the design can subsequently be optimised. Every print out will contain all the necessary details for further examination and modification.
\r\n
The program is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. It is available for download, for free. See www.koeco.info or request it directly from Köster & Co.
\r\n
\r\n

Please note that optimal dimensioning according to "CEN/TS" is in line with the current state of scientific knowledge, however, dimensioning according to "ETA" is still the only method recognized at present as being in compliance with existing building regulations.
	2016-05-26 15:22:43.366928	2016-07-15 08:27:30.052194	132

212	1
The process “short cycle stud welding” is used for welding studs of a diameter of 3 to 12 mm onto thin sheets.
The minimum thickness of the sheet is 1/8 of the stud-diameter.
\r\n
This process leads to a flat weld penetration. For this reason, short cycle stud welding is mostly used for welding studs onto thin sheets. Generally, studs with a flange and a flat apex without any addition of aluminium are in use.
\r\n
In general, the positive pole of the power-source is connected to the workpiece.
The stud will be inserted into the chuck of the stud welding gun and positioned onto the workpiece, possibly by adding a ceramic ferrule.
\r\n
Initiating the welding process: by means of a lifting mechanism, the stud will be lifted and at first an auxiliary arc (pilot arc) of a low current will be drawn. Then the main arc will be drawn between the tip of the stud and the workpiece.
The main arc of a high amperage must be adjusted to the diameter of the stud.
The cross sectional area of the stud and the opposite workpiece a partially melting.
\r\n
After the lapse of the adjusted welding time, the stud is moved towards the work piece and both melting zones join tightly.
The power-source turns off, the melting zone solidifies and cools down.
	2016-05-31 10:33:43.228524	2016-05-31 10:33:43.228524	152

216	2
The process “stud welding with tip ignition” is used for studs up to a diameter of approximately 8 mm. Studs, having a small cylindric tip, are in use. A capacitor battery serves as power source. The maximum current can reach 10.000 A; the welding time is between 1 and 3 ms.
\r\n
The capacitor battery will be loaded up to a defined voltage. In general, the negative pole will be connected to the stud. The studs with its precisely dimensioned cylindric tip will be moved to the workpiece. With the contact of the tip to the workpiece, the circuit closes. The quickly increasing current is melting the welding tip and with it, the arc will ignite. Stud and workpiece are melting. By the contact between stud and workpiece, the arc will lapse, the melting zones join tightly and solidify. The remaining energy of the capacitor will unload by a short-circuit.
Stud welding with tip ignition comprises two different processes.
As discribed above, in the course of the process “welding with gap” the stud will be accelerated to a certain speed. The movement will not be delayed by the ignition process.
\r\n
In the course of the process “welding with contact”, spring force will move the stud to the workpiece.
Caused by the increasing current, the welding tip will melt promptly and ignite the arc.
Now the stud moves towards the workpiece and melts. As the stud must be accelerated from static condition, the result is a longer welding time, compared to the process “welding with gap”.
\r\n
The extremely short welding process can only be followed by the aid of oscillograph curves. The measuring instruments, which are nowadays availble, are capable to store the process and thus allow an exact evaluation of the cycle.
	2016-05-31 10:37:34.745829	2016-05-31 10:37:34.745829	153
